Samsung Launches Enhanced 1TB microSD Cards with Improved Performance and Higher Capacity

Samsung Electronics America, the leader in advanced memory technology, today introduced its first ever line of 1-terabyte (TB) high-capacity microSD cards: PRO Plus and EVO Select. Leveraging eighth-generation Samsung V-NAND (V8) technology, the PRO Plus and EVO Select boast enhanced performance and high capacity, ideal for content creators and tech enthusiasts needing quick file transfers and storage for everyday use across their devices.

“According to research, total global data storage is projected to exceed 200 zettabytes by 2025. That’s a tremendous amount of games, photos, videos, creative designs, and files that people need to safely save down – and they need enhanced, portable storage options to help make that possible,” said James Fishler, Senior Vice President of Home Entertainment, Samsung Electronics America. “The new PRO Plus and EVO Select from Samsung deliver exactly that, offering up to 1TB in storage – our highest capacity microSD cards yet! These cards provide users with an easy, reliable, and secure way to store large amounts of high-quality data, all in a small and portable form factor that’s easy to take with you on the go.”

More Storage Capacity

The 1TB storage size on the PRO Plus and EVO Select, which Samsung previously offered only on its SSDs and Portable SSDs, allows users to store more than 400,000 4K UHD (2.3MB) images or more than 45 console games (20GB). This additional capacity unlocks new storage possibilities for a variety of portable devices from smartphones and action cameras to drones and handheld game consoles.

Enhanced Performance

Designed to provide photographers, videographers, and other content creators with excellent performance and effortless creative workflows, the PRO Plus offers transfer speeds of up to 180 megabytes-per-second (MB/s)1 for seamless capturing of UHD and FHD content.

The PRO Plus also features UHS Speed Grade 3 (U3) for high quality 4K UHD Video recording, while a video speed class rating of V30 ensures you can move these large video files at blazing fast speeds. A2 Application Performance is included for the easy installation and use of applications with a microSD card and your mobile device.

With transfer speeds up to 160MB/s2, the EVO Select is also an excellent option for everyday use. It boasts many of the same features as PRO Plus, including the U3 Speed Grade, V303 video speed class rating and A24 App Performance for top-notch loading and multitasking.

Proven Durability for Reliable Storage

Both the Samsung PRO Plus and EVO Select will improve your device’s power efficiency thanks to a new controller. It’s built with 28-nanometer (nm) process technology, reduced from 55nm in the previous Samsung lineup, which helps provide better stability and durability for the microSD cards, and your data.

Tested extensively under harsh conditions, the PRO Plus and EVO Select are designed to improve portability and durability in challenging environments, including those with water5, high temperatures6, X-rays7 and even magnetic fields8. Furthermore, the PRO Plus and EVO Select are proven to be drop-proof9 and resistant to wear-out.10, 11

Compatible Across Devices

The cards are broadly compatible with a range of everyday devices, including AndroidTM smartphones, tablets and handheld gaming consoles, ensuring a single card can support multiple devices.

The 1TB models of the PRO Plus and EVO Select are now available worldwide. In addition to the 1TB capacity, the PRO Plus and EVO Select offer a range of additional storage options including 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The EVO Select also includes a 64GB option.

The PRO Plus has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) ranging from $24.99 for the 128GB model to $153.99 for the 1TB model. The MSRP for the EVO Select ranges from $12.99 for the 64GB model to $131.99 for the 1TB model.

The PRO Plus and EVO Select have a 10-year limited warranty.
